Overall, Canadian Rooster is celebrated as a beloved local takeout spot that offers a blend of traditional vibes and satisfying meals at reasonable prices.
Walking into Canadian Rooster immediately took be back to my childhood. The interior is the same as it was in 1985 and that’s not a bad thing. It’s amazing this place has stood the test of time. The place is clean the prices very reasonable and the food pretty good. My chips were unfortunately what let it down today. They had clearly been sitting for a bit and were very under salted. Chicken was really nice and full of flavour.
Canadian rooster is a blast from the past in the best way possible. Prices are from the 80’s, staff are friendly and happy and food is to die for!! Food pictured was $8.20 and 10/10. Been visiting Portland and will miss this place when I leave. Great local buisness
We dropped in to pick up dinner whilst on our road trip and an overnight stay in Portland. The team instore were lovely, friendly and helpful. My kids and I grabbed 12 pieces of fried chicken, a large chips and a pineapple fritter for takeaway. Back at our accommodation we combined this with an ALDI coleslaw. The chicken wasn’t particularly crisp, but was very tasty and the meat was juicy and tasty. The fried a weren’t bad either.
Not sure if inflation hasn't caught up to Portland yet but this place is insanely cheap. We ordered food for 6 people and had lots of leftovers, total of $75. The vibe is really cool, feels like you have stepped back in time. I've never seen a non chain drive through so that was a fun novelty too. The chicken was succulent and flavourful (although I currently have a blocked nose and no taste ability so just going by hearsay), and the gravy was perfect; not too gluggy or runny. The chicken burger was "way better than KFC". Service was fast and friendly. Highly recommend!
